A local Los Angeles based developer retained the Afriat Consulting Group to entitle a 73-unit, five-story mixed-use project in Mar Vista, a part of the City of Los Angeles that is notoriously difficult to develop in. After significant outreach to the neighbors around the project and the homeowners association that represents the area, ACG won an unprecedented unanimous vote of support from the Mar Vista Community Council Planning and Land Use Management Committee. Afterwards, at the meeting of the full board of directors of the Community Council, ACG helped the project when a vote of support from an overwhelming majority of the Council. The support of neighbors and community stakeholders led to the project being unanimously approved at the Los Angeles City Planning Commission on the consent calendar. Our careful community outreach strategy and effective advocacy at City Hall allowed our client to bring new market-rate and affordable units online and create a pedestrian-friendly atmosphere at the ground level.
